I'd rather hire the better developer. Whichever one that is. In my experience, 
working
with lots of people from both camps, getting a degree has very little to do 
with how
good a developer you are. The attributes of a good developer generally mean 
that even
without a degree, they're going to be working to increase their knowledge and 
learn the
Right Way to do things.

I'd estimate that of the 'good to great' developers I've known, somewhere 
around half
didn't have a college degree of any kind, and of those that did, at least a 
third of
them weren't a CS degree.
