I think I know that guy :-).  I have a couple of old hard drives and
some computer books that need a good home.  I'll review them and the
rest of my stash for applicability.

It's been quite a while, but may I also suggest pointing out Rute
Linux to him?  Please pardon the fuzzy memory, but I seem to recall
that it was a good introductory review of Linux generally:

The RHEL5 Deployment Guide also serves well to introduce some good
