Fundamentally I'm lazy and will often go for the command with the least
amount of keystrokes. One thing that I really don't like doing is
specifying the port number on these protocols that should be known by the
software itself. Therefore, I often opt to omit the -P3306 for my mysql
command line client as much as the -P22 in my pscp.

Now as to address the speed issue, there is also an option to enable
compression. If this is a large file that is not .zipped (or .tgz) it
would then serve to use the -C option. This will enable a fairly decent
compression algorhythm. Lol, I misspelled that showing my musical forte. I
digress .. Now sir - I'm not a smart man, but I would presume that most who
have written such complex systems as these would be, so I can't really tell
you much in regards to your particular misfortune of bits. However, it is
credit to my copious experience as a linux zealot that I can tell you with
an 90%th percentile of accuracy that it may have to do with your actual
bandwidth. Perhaps your using a 3G modem? or Tethered to a cell-phone?
Perhaps you may even sending via some other means, like - oh look silly me
- morose code. See that? "morose?" anyway ..- Just love your machine,
understand it has limitations that befall even unto humans. Often however
our patience gets the best of us in situations like these and we resort to
nasty things like "ctrl-alt-del" or doing such heinous acts as punishing
the monitor, or slamming the poor mouse down. Fear not, we have it within
us as humans to alter our conscious decisions for the benefit of all
mankind - and even machine.

Thank you for your time, I hope you read this.
