Yes, I have many thoughts. I think the best way to get involved is to start a hyper-local news website that reports on local stuff as well as county, state, your U.S.Congressman, and your two U.S. Senators. Gather with like minded people and become a person of influence. I know it takes time and effort, however if you are not heard you will not count.
I am a big mouth in my community and I have a blog. I've confronted one of my U.S.Senators and the news video went viral. Call your reps at all levels. Stay informed. Write letters. Post articles to your blog. Network with other bloggers. Facebook. Twitter. Phone calls. If everyone did just a little everyday we would be able to make an impact. ------------------------ Keith Smith --- On Mon, 6/10/13, Matthew Frederico <[email protected]> wrote: From: Matthew Frederico <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Did Ed Snowden do the right thing? I feel like I went to bed one night in the 90's totally riding the excitement of the "fall of communism" gleaned by the pinnacle of "Reganism." .. Today - I wake up in the Soviet Union .. "Papers please?" I'll say it - Manning - was a hero, as was Snowden. Manning - maybe a bit sloppy but a hero simply for the fact that he "paved the way" for others to come forward. Others who will pay the ultimate price of their own freedoms and liberties. It's obvious our justice system needs a little re-vamping - it doesn't have a deep enough reach into itself - LAPD anyone? Unfortunately me sitting here behind the cozy comfort of my air conditioned home, absorbing this fabulous conversation of those whom I deem peers of a much more charismatic persuasion than I means absolutely nothing. I will not amount to any change by talking about anything. It's what we DO that really matters. So it's time to start asking the tough question - what can we do? And don't tell met "Get involved and VOTE" - (insert mtv theme song here) - because that's obviously how we are in the situation we are in. Are we as a citizenry powerless? I for one stand behind all the sloppy whistleblowing because it's doing SOMETHING. Thoughts? On Mon, Jun 10, 2013 at 10:19 AM, Doran L.
