We have a winner. Also, it's not Mac OS X per se, as some have suggested. They might have an option but that's simply because they have BSD in some parts. The option comes from BSD: http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=rm&apropos=0&sektion=0&manpath=OpenBSD+Current&arch=i386&format=html And, as for explainshell.com's usefulness, if it doesn't account for somthing other than GNU/Linux then it isn't as useful for ``explaining shell commands'' and the website would be more appropriately called explaingnushell.com. Similarly, it doesn't handle lowercase -p: http://www.explainshell.com/explain/rm?args=-p+%2Ftmp%2Fjunk Which comes from Solaris. Perhaps the author of the website has intentions to have separate sections for various *nix, so my observations may be a bit premature.
