I think they're an excellent idea, but I have some concerns regarding
how they might be implemented for PLUG.
First, there's a wide variety of things related to Linux; will there
be enough people to get multiple coherent topic groups together?
Second, there are people with vast experience in things that has gone
unused for a while; without an idea of what topics to brush up on,
they might not be able to be as effective at sharing their experience
as they could have been with a bit of prep time.
Maybe these things could be resolved via some sort of pre-meeting
discussions in the week beforehand on the mailing list or some sort of
web-based poll thing. I'm sure things would smooth out and gain
momentum if enough interest could be drummed up, but gathering
interest is always the key and sticking point to these kind of things.
