Hi All, There occasionally come times where one finds themselves without employment for reasons outside their control. The company I was employed at just let a number of people go and I find myself in one of those times. It is kind of weird since I haven't left a job for non-voluntary reasons for almost 15 years. I thought I would reach out to those on the mailing list since you all work in a wide variety of positions for a large number of companies.
I should probably give a little info on myself to those that don't know me. I would describe myself as one who is interested in computing and technology. I frequently find myself doing things like reading about upcoming kernel releases or looking through code for various opensource projects in my spare time. There are also a large number of things I have worked on professionally. Most recently, I was in IT and maintained 2 OpenStack Environments (Grizzly and Icehouse based) and maintained the company network. My role in IT also had me help or work on a wide variety of things as I'm sure many of you have experienced at some point. Before working in IT at the previous company, I worked there as a software developer all around Linux Guru. I also spent time at Mozy and ran the Mozy storage infrastructure for a couple years. I have about 10 years experience as a Linux Systems Administrator. Some of the things I've done that I am the most proud of are my presentations at OpenWest and PLUG. I've thoroughly enjoyed those experiences. So much so that I've volunteered, before I found myself unemployed, to give another one. I'll leave the details of it to Steve. Sharing what I have learned over the years with others is something that I find a lot of pride and joy in. I am hoping for a position as a Linux Systems Admin with some dabbling in Network Administration. I have really enjoyed working for companies in the 20-100 employee range and would like to continue that. I would like to stay in Utah County but, if the opportunity is right, I would consider relocating (I know there are a number on the list that live outside of Provo). Do you all know of any companies with open positions that would be interested in talking to me? Of course, I can provide a resume and references on request. Thanks. I'll end this here cause this is already way to formal of a posting for this list. I kind of feel that I should end by inciting some kind of political flame war or something but I'm at a loss for those at the moment. :) Vim forever. How about that? :) mike /* PLUG: http://plug.org, #utah on irc.freenode.net Unsubscribe: http://plug.org/mailman/options/plug Don't fear the penguin. */
