Hi, PLUG Members -
I am looking for a Linux consultant that I would probably use a couple
of times per year. This could be during business hours or someone
moonlighting on evenings and/or Saturdays. I hope this request does not
violate Mailing list etiquette: "Job postings are welcome, but are
subject to being mocked."
I had a really good Linux SysAdmin consultant in Oregon for ~15 years
and still occasionally use him long-distance, but I think it is time to
find someone local to the Provo area. My Oregon guy didn't even have a
college degree but he was really good at what he did. I moved my
business to Utah 3+ years ago.
I have installed Centos 6.5 on a pair of Thinkpad Carbon X1 laptops and
it took me a while to do all the yum-install updates to make my software
packages run.
I now want to setup each laptop with a local wireless router so that I
can use the laptops for SystemVerilog training (language used by
computer chip designers) and allow customers to install VNC clients and
connect to and run on my laptops to do labs (I have the lab software and
licenses installed on my laptops).
I would like to take the laptops and do this in classrooms worldwide
where I conduct training and I would also like to set this up so that I
could do training over the internet and allow customers to VNC into my
laptops from remote sites.
With enough time, I could probably figure this out but I am a big
believer of using local talent to save time where possible.
My (lousy) web site is www.sunburst-design.com
<http://www.sunburst-design.com>, and there may be further opportunities
to help me improve that website over time, For now, it serves its
purpose and my customers know where to find me and the papers I make
available for free download.
My email address is: [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]>
If you know someone who might be good at doing the VNC-wireless local
client gig, or if you have some advice, please feel free to email. If I
find the right person, I would like to engage their services ASAP. I
suspect this is just a 1-day job for the first step. Please also let me
know what your rate is for services and if you or someone else would
prefer business hours or after hours to perform services.
I occasionally contact my SysAdmin consultant with questions and small
work that he can do over the internet while creeping onto my computers,
and then he just invoices me for services.
Thanks. I hope to become a more active participant in PLUG. The meetings
look interesting, even for Linux-novices like myself.
Regards - Cliff Cummings
