Pffft. Hand holding is right out. I've gone from never having coded in
C# to having a semi-functional prototype of part of my game in a month.
I just like having people I can say "Is this sane, or is there a better
way I don't know about?" to.

Curious if anyone else in the group is doing any Unity development. I just
got into it a month or so ago, and it's been an amazing learning
experience. I'd love to have someone local to use as a sounding board for
questions / game architecture issues if there's someone with more
experience than me.
My small community has a number of game dev hobbyists and we cover Unity
among other things. You're welcome to hit us up on irc.esper.net at
#todandlorna if we're around. We trend more toward low-level concerns than
Unity, but we're very aware of Unity and Unreal Engine's offerings to that
table. We also mess with other stuff like just raw HTML5 javascript game
nonsense, or the fabled Chip8 emulator in-browser, Octo (written by one of
our own). Fair warning: there will be little hand holding if that's what
you're looking for, but we're happy to guide you in the right direction for
the answer for more complex stuff =c)
