I know someone who did the iOS course.  He was very happy with the
experience.  He was already working as a web designer and had much
experience working with html/css and a small amount of minor javascript
experience.  He has completed the course and has already written one app
that he's put into the app store.

I'm not saying that everything they say about going straight to high paying
jobs is true, but I think it's certainly possible for someone who really
invests themselves and already has a little bit of a basis to work from.
