TL;DR:  Ancestry is searching for at least one but probably two senior
DevOps engineers to help us with a multi-year move in our technology
stack from something they call 'Windows' to a proper Linux platform.

Ancestry is undergoing a major technology shift and we need people
with cutting edge skills who can help us design and build a next
generation platform for building, testing, deploying, and running our
applications. We are making heavy use of open source tools and
iterating quickly, so we need someone who embraces change and learns
quickly.

Key Responsibilities / Performance Requirements:

Ensure performance and availability of build and deployment platform
including source control, build system, artifact repository, container
orchestration/scheduling, etc.
Embed with development teams to encourage best practices for
continuous delivery and configuration management and to identify
missing tools and automation.
Act as a liaison between the development teams and the operations
teams to build automation and to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
- 10+ years Linux System Administration
- Real world experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience in shell scripting and at least one scripting language
(Preferably Ruby or Python)
- Experience with infrastructure automation “configuration as code”
(Chef preferred).
- Solid knowledge of virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, KVM, OpenStack)
- Experience configuring and deploying common applications such as
Cassandra, Tomcat, DHCP, - NTP, SSH, DNS, software load balancers etc.
- Strong DevOps mindset – solve operational problems by writing code
- Experience with Continuous Delivery and Agile practices.
- Tenacious and aggressive troubleshooting skills – if a problem comes
across your desk, it gets fixed!
- Strong English language verbal and written communications skills
