To check this I dropped the SoftSqueeze bit rate limit to ensure transcoding to MP3, and that worked fine. (I checked that SoftSqueeze was seeing it as MP3 as well.) Also streaming flac to the PDA transcoded to MP3 works fine, as does Shoutcast streaming.... However, after some more research on the list, I tried the same experiment with the d_remotestream debug switch on.
