Ah!
This actually starts the SlimServer service - and iTunes Update will not
work if running as a service.
(I am not a big fan of the new tray tool) 

You need to run SlimServer from the command prompt or a shortcut eg. try
opening the command prompt and running:
C:\program files\SlimServer\Server\slim.exe

There are various tools to automate this or hide the command prompt
mentioned elsewhere in the slim forums.

Unfortunately Windows doesn't allow services to do the inter-process
communication the plugin needs - which is a shame.
