Doh, ignore that! I just figured it out. Silly really - I was running PeerGuardian, a privacy protection application that prevents communication with dodgy IP addresses.
Well, for some reason, the IP address that AlienBBC was contacting was marked as a protected IP address, so I have now permanently allowed access to that address. Sorry for the false alarm; maybe this post will help others that experience firewall issues though!
