A few more things:

1) I think I've worked out what is causing the play back of multiple
simultaneous stations.

Within Slimserver / AlienBBC it seems very prone to starting more than
one mplayer in the background.

If I hit play once on the remote, then look at the running processes

ps -aux | grep mplayer
11:51PM 0:04.57 mplayer -vo null -cache 128 -af resample=44100:0:1
-ao pcm -aofile /dev/fd/3 rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.
11:51PM 0:00.02 sh -c
"/Users/jasonparr/Library/SlimDevices/bin/mplayer.sh" -vo null -cache
128 -af resample=44100:0
11:51PM 0:00.01 /bin/sh
/Users/jasonparr/Library/SlimDevices/bin/mplayer.sh -vo null -cache 128
-af resample=44100:0:
11:51PM 0:00.01 /bin/sh
/Users/jasonparr/Library/SlimDevices/bin/mplayer.sh -vo null -cache 128
-af resample=44100:0:
11:51PM 0:00.09 mplayer -vo null -cache 128 -af resample=44100:0:1
-ao pcm -aofile /dev/fd/3 rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.

All these mplayers get slightly out of sync as time goes on giving you
a reverb effects which gets worse the longer you listen.

So AlienBBC still seems a bit buggy to me.

2) Also I would still like to know how to get it all to work when
starting slimserver from the Preferences Pane. When I start slimserver
from prefs and try to play an AlienBBC station slimserver constantly
forks new instances of mplayer plus you get no sound!
