Okay, I finally got it to work. How?... well I discovered my Mac os x ineptitude. I figured out (by accident) that my main hard drive has a "application support" folder just like my user library... and they are different.
Once I put cook.bundle in hard drive/library/application support/ffmpegx/reallib.... it worked.
