Thank you all so much! All your guidance really helped me out.
Your instructions were clear and worked perfectly.

I'm glad it worked for you! I'll have to keep them somewhere for future use...

IP for the server then I can forward the port on my router to that
specific IP address always so I can sit at work and browse and listen

Many DHCP servers have an option to reserve an ip address for an exact MAC address. This would allow you for attributing the same fixed address automatically. You should find this options in the router's settings.

Always impressive, yes :-)

About making the "dsl toram" the default boot configuration for SlimCD:

that it wouldn't take editing more than a few lines of code on a
specific file (I'm thinking this must be minirt24). As far as testing
out if it boots or not I can try that one myself if you could identify
the bootable image (I'm thinking isolinux.bin)).

It's a little more than this. The setting is in lilo.conf. But you'd have to run lilo (the linux boot loader) again to create the correct boot sector and then create a new cd image with this modified stuff. Editing the file won't be enough.

But do you really need the toram parameter? I think once slimserver is up and running it shouldn't access the cd any more. toram mainly speeds up interactive use (start firefox etc.).
