Thanks for the quick reply. I've only been using the feature a couple of days. I'm not sure it I would want to select an artist dynamically or not through the last.fm plugin - I will try and play with the settings you suggest first.
I find that last.fm similar artists are often not very similar and also the reception seems to break up from time to time. Radiohead is a good example! According to last.fm nearly every artist is similar to radiohead...
