OK, I disabled wav>flc in convert.conf and rstp>flc in slimserver-convert.conf.
It now *looks* like it's playing, the log file is attached. I'm not at home but when I try to play via softsqueeze over SSH I'm getting some very choppy snippets of audio. More that I was getting before. If I use bitrate limiting on softsqueeze I get nothing at all.
