Oh, wow - that's a definite change of position! Their protocol definition explicitly says not to do this. But as Felix says, it would surely rock. In any case, it's always been a little inconsistent with the way they log tracks played through Last.FM radio.
Do I take it from your email to Felix that you might be prepared to have a go at coding this up? I can't say I've thought it through, but I'd guess the biggest problem any general implementation would face would be to weed out the track and artist names from whatever information slimserver makes available to us. We might be able to do something useful with "quality" services like radioio, but the general case would be tougher. If you (or anyone else) fancy stepping up to this then please drop me an email.
