Greg

I think I understand now, and I'm over my head already. I'm guessing
that the slimserver MM plugin is using the info MM cache to populate
the slim database where songs are not already present. I can see that
this behaviour has its uses, but obviously not for you. Altering this
is beyond my meagre knowledge - anyone else?

You may be able to establish separate MM caches for your two sets of
files and only have the the non compressed cache active when syncing
with slimserver. Simply rename the cache files (usually default.m3lib)
to choose the active set.

There is a hint in the description of some of the features in the new
MM 1.5beta (http://music.predixis.com/powertoys.html) that the app may
be able to use multiple cache files. It may be worth posting a
question in the MM forum.

Cheers - Chris
