It could, but the code and the handling is really ugly. I regret having to maintain it in the email plugin but it was already there (it used to be easier)
With this modification, it will make the same result as announcement06 plugin, with scheduling features ;-)
First impression, it would probably be cleaner to schedule the announcement plugin. Since it is an outside script, you could simply run it as a cron job
I don't even know if it's a simple modification, or just a 3 months work...
Announcement is simple, as it already exists in another plugin. It is a bit more complex having it play a file THEN a playlist, or rather used not an an alarm clock, but as an event alert in midstream. It might not be something I want to have to maintain. I don't have the time to dedicate that I used to and any mistakes I make, mean I end up scrambling to get to work the next morning :)
Still, I've always wanted to rework the plugin, clean up the code and add features similar to this. I'll certainly keep it in mind.
