Your original post says you are using "mplayer MPlayer dev-CVS-051113-22:16-3.4.2 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team" but in the last trace mplayer reports "MPlayer 1.0pre6-3.2.3 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team". As the command lines for 1.0pre6 and 1.0pre7 are different this may explain the problems you are seeing. Could you make sure you only have 1 copy of mplayer on your system (I would recommend the one from www.x2systems.com/alienbbc/mplayer.html). You will also need to make sure you have the correct slimserver-convert.conf, if you get AlienBBC v1.00 this file should be correctly setup for mplayer.
