Has anyone considered a new music detection plugin?

I understand that this would be impossible to do in the main slimserver code as the method for detecting new files in a folder is different between different operating systems. But could it not be done in a standalone program? (which then could be run on the remote storage system for those storing their music on a NAS but running slimserver on a full blown PC)

This could be done as follows:

1)standalone program detects new file in a directory by operating system dependant system 2)uses the CLI to 'browse music folder' to that file so that it is added to the database there and then (and without the performance hit of completely rescanning)

As an option it could ignore certain file types e.g. non music files (e.g. album art) or some music files e.g. .wav (as these are usually just temp files before they are converted to falc or mp3).

Any one any thoughts?
