Hi Hakan

I've got this semi-old computer that I would like to try together with
the SlimCD (I'm totally new with SlimCD AND Linux). I would like to
know a few things:
- I guess that I should clear my hard drive, but how should I format
it? FAT? NTFS? Or from inside SlimCD?

SlimCD is a so called "Live CD" - it won't touch your existing system. Just boot your machine from the cd.

BUT as ntfs access in Linux is still experimental, you won't be able to access any music collection stored on a ntfs formatted disk using SlimCD. If you want to be able to access a music collection from both Windows and Linux (SlimCD) it's best to format it using Fat32. If you decide to rely completely on Linux, then ext3 would be the best choice.

- You mention the filetool.lst file - do I save that file on the hard
  drive?

In the boot screen you can define where to store your settings (eg. "dsl restore=hda1"). By default it would imho search hda1/sda1/floppy. Just hit F2 for more information. This partition should be fat formatted, but can be a harddisk, usb stick, whatever.

- What about a more in-depth user guide for SlimCD in the Wiki? Or
can I find more information on the DSL site (that is interesting
  regarding the SlimCD)?

DSL offers lots of information about boot parameters, installation etc, though it sometimes is hard to find. A user guide in the wiki... I once started instructions on how to run a "frugal" install. But this is mostly redundant stuff. The SlimCD specific part of this CD is very small.

I'm still waiting for that paid sabbatical to finish all my projects... :-)
