If you are using an install (frugal or native) or considering
remastering Michael's nice (already done) work, you could add:

AutoRip
cdparanoia
the MPEG::MP3Info perl module from the CPAN archives
LAME 3.97

see http://autorip.sourceforge.net/

For the "details" -- I've used it in a Kubuntu and DSL native installed
environment and it works great. You just run this and it spits out the
CD tray...you feed it disks all day long and dump the ripped, encoded
and tagged files to a large HDD and you are done.

The perl file can be modified to accommodate different encoders, bit
rates, VBR/CBR and ABR as well as the file naming conventions for
output and file locations.

While the author may consider what he prepared "trivial", it is quite
powerful for a perl script that is over a year old with its origins in
the late 1990's.

You could add Autorip and its dependencies using the DSL remastering
process described at the Knoppix and Damn Small Linux sites:

http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Knoppix_Remastering_Howto along with
anything specific to DSL via
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/talk/node/160.

Again, though, I would suggest using Michael's SlimCD as the basis for
your work if you want SlimServer included. Otherwise, the latest
version of DSL (i.e. 2.0) is the way to go and the easiest and fastest
to remaster because of its size and the 'toram' boot option makes it
blazing fast on new hardware with > 256 MB main RAM.
