I am running Ubuntu and have had a working version of 6.5b1 running with a functioning Alien 1.0 for the past month or so. However I was tempted by the release of the official Slimserver Debian package and the promise that I could update regularly as I used to do when running Mandrake and using nightly rpms. Since the new install wiped out my Alien I thought I would use this opportunity to install the latest 1.01 beta. However, something has got lost in the shuffle as I cannot get any of the rtsp settings in 'file types' to stick but get the following message:
Required binary was not found: [mplayer.sh] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 10000000 -cache 128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3 $FILE$ | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 - Required binary was not found: [mplayer.sh] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 10000000 -cache 128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3 $FILE$ | [lame] --silent -r -x -q $QUALITY$ -b $BITRATE$ - - Required binary was not found: [mplayer.sh] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 10000000 -cache 128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3 $FILE$ This looks like a path/permissions issue but I have drawn a blank trying to nail it down. The mplayer.sh file is in /usr/share/slimserver/Bin/ and has 777 permissions. mplayer itself has not been touched. My suspicion is that it is related to the fact that the location of slimserver has changed as aresult of the new install from /usr/local to usr/share I have run "mplayer rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio1/live/r1_dsat_g2.ra" from within a shell and get live BBC streaming audio, so I assume that my mplayer is not broken.
