Have been having the problem of BBC streams playing for 5 minutes and then freezing or becoming garbled. Was running slimserver 6.2 and latest stable version of Alien and mplayer. (Discussed this problem--accidentally--at the tail end of another long thread).
Thought it might be helpful, in case anyone else is having this problem, to let everyone know that I seem to have successfully solved this problem, simply by doing a completely clean re-install of both slimserver and Alien BBC (and mplayer). This involved removing the program using control panel, then also deleting the folder in Program Files that was left behind.
