1. there is a box in the lower right corner for mounting etc. How do I
hide or disable this box?
Edit .xinitrc and uncomment the three lines starting with fluxter,
docked.lua and swallowed.lua respectively (only leaving "exec fluxbox" at
around line 25)
2. my goal is to run the box headless. I've installed VNC4X and
configured this, samba and sshd to start automatically after login. But
how do I get my login as DSL automatically without touching a keyboard?
Do you still need the GUI when running headless? I'm running mine in text
only mode (runlevel 2) - no X needed. But here's what I've found on
damnsmalllinux.org:

You might also need to change /.bash_profile (NOT /home/dsl/.bash_profile)
to log in dsl automatically:
