This is exactly what I'd have in mind for adapting my app. All it really does is use special intelligence to choose the next song. Thanks for the feedback erland, I'll take a look at how these work. I think I could pull this off. I'll be sure to share my findings here. Another question. Currently, my playback app has psuedo-DJ support. It uses a text-to-speech engine to overlay ratings feedback and add random DJ speech between songs. For example, when a rating 1 song plays, there's a 50% chance it'll play a wav file "Excellent" at the beginning. This let's you know the rating, and can make for funny commentary. In between songs, the TTS engine might say, "That was Dave Mathews with Crash, up next it Everclear." It randomizes the sayings via a text file. I can have the TTS engine generate wav files with the speech output before the song break. Is it possible to inject this file into the SlimServer stream? Would it be as simple as just putting it in the playlist? Is it possible to mix in sounds over top of a currently playing song?
