thanks for the reply. I tried mplayer as a standalone test. Stopped after 3 mins with the follwing error message:
rdt chunk not recognized: got 0x4f rdt chunk not recognized: got 0x2a This happened several times. In the end I switched from the version of mplayer (MPlayer dev-CVS-060124-07:11-3.4.2 for Windows) built-in support for RealAudio streams back to the version (MPlayer dev-CVS-051113-22:16-3.4.2 for Windows) that requires external codecs.
