In single line mode, the position information disappears when paused.
You'll have to configure this screensaver for idle mode, too. There are three modes configurable from the web interface: playing, idle, off. Idle is when the player is neither playing nor turned off - typically in paused mode.
I'm sorry I'm too ignorant to hack this myself.
You don't have to hack, just find the one of the many options that are already there...
