We are pleased announce a new release of AlienBBC. This release includes some new features and support recent versions of SlimServer 6.5. The release is also compatible with the 6.2.x release.
The biggest change for this release is the new AlienAddon feature (thanks to Bryan Alton for all his hard work on this). This allows for stations to be added without a new full release of AlienBBC. It also allows you to only see the stations you want. Due to this change we had to decide which stations were available by default and this may mean you favourite is missing when you install this update. To add it back in simply go to the AlienBBC configuration page and select it from the list. This release also addresses the following issues: - Fixed the display of Gaelic characters (and any other &xxx;and &#xxx; items) - For 6.5 compatibility: -- Replace addLinks with addPageLinks -- Replace registerProtocolHandler with registerHandler -- Use new getConvertCommand -- Use new openRemoteStream -- move setTitle into Alien (execute no longer supports title in $p3) -- Update HTML to new non-table format -- Timers now require a $client parameter -- Revise output of web page to use array refs rather than filling a template - Move remaining print statements to d_plugin to quieten down console - Updated ABC stations - Added ABC podcasts - Added Sveriges Radio from Patrik Wallström - Added Danmarks Radio from Lars Thegler - Removed codecs check as the latest mplayer doesn't need them - Add ability to skip forward and backwards within streams, and set start time using fwd/rew keys (Based on original proposal & rtsp stream parsing from BPA) - Added National Public Radio (US) from Bryan Alton - Added AlienAddon extension from Bryan Alton -- This allows new radio stations to be added without new releases of AlienBBC -- It also allows stations to be disabled or the order changed -- Added new stations NPR News, NPR Programs, NPR RSS, Radio Nacional de España, DW-World Deutsche Welle, RAI Radio Italia, RTE Radio - Removed AlienExternalStreamMenu as many of the streams either don't work or are duplicated. - Added button to clear the cache folder. - Move AlienBBC configuration to it's own menu. - Added ability to configure AlienAddon menu. - Experimental install pack for Windows. The update can be downloaded from http://www.x2systems.com/alienbbc/. Please note there are now separate downloads for 6.2.x and 6.5. Note: For SlimServer 6.5 only, please read the additional installation notes. There is also a new version of mplayer available for Windows that includes built-in support for RealAudio streams so the external codecs are not required.
