I had a perfectly working Alien BBC, then suddenly it stopped working - I got the connection message, then the note symbol but flat-line on the EQ.
Through trial and error I found that Peer Guardian was blocking the connection, presumably as a result of a recent update to their definition files. Now Peer Guardian is disabled the problem has gone away.
