Dan,
I hope you don't mind if I answer to the slimserver forum, too. I imagine
that this problem could come up again - in the forums it will be
"archived" for those who want to search for help. Please ask questions
over there. I'm answer there as fast as I do on my private account (after
all I don't get many mails not slimserver related :-)).
I know that Ewe is working correctly on my PDA, because the Registry
Viewer
and Solitaire applications work properly.
That's good to know.
When I try to run SlimRemote, I
get a message box (with a graphic of Squeezebox 3) that says “Starting Up
SlimRemote” at the top, and “initializing…” at the bottom. The progress
bar
gets only to 12%, then I get a “Server Settings” box. The address is
pre-filled with 127.0.0.1, and the CLI Port is pre-filled with 9090.
Standard behaviour: localhost (127.0.0.1) is the only address that should
exist on any computer. Port 9090 is the CLI's default port - don't change
it if you didn't change it on the server side.
I have tried changing these settings, but it still doesn’t work. I can
control Slim Server via my PDA using the handheld skin in internet
explorer,
so I know that it’s not a WIFI issue. The address is HYPERLINK
"http://gray-case:9000/handheld/"http://gray-case:9000/handheld/
Don't put these addresses: they are the web interfaces' urls. SlimRemote
doesn't use the web interface (except for the cover arts), but the command
line interface (CLI). Just put "gray-case" or "192.168.0.3" in the server
field.
I have also tried changing the default “9090” CLI Port to “9000.”
Don't do this. 9000 is the web interface, 9090 the CLI.
Please check your server settings: you'll find the port in the network
settings (if you don't know where to look, you very probably never changed
it ;-)).
If you're running on slimserver 6.5, be sure you've enabled the CLI
plugin. Again: by default this should be fine.
And then double check your firewall: you'll need to open 9090 on your
machine, too.
If all this does not help, please provide us with more information about
your configuration (slimserver version, operating system, network
parameters etc.).
I’ve tried both just selecting “ok” after changing
the settings, and have also tried selecting the “save” button.
Is this the window's "OK" button? _I_ did not add it, but didn't test on
PocketPC, neither...
Regards,
