Firstly, Thanks a bajillion to Michael for all his excellent works.

Thirdly, I can't seem to get any stable activity out of any of the versions of slim remote.
And you still consider this excellent work?!? :-)
I have Slimserver running on an old e-machines p3 1.3ghz w/384MB
What version of SlimServer?
I finally got the Java remote to connect but it froze on the "Music" tab while locking cpu at 99%. At first I thought this might be from running other java apps concurrently but it seems to not make much difference.
You could turn on debugging in slimserver: go to the server settings/debugging and activate d_cli. Then there's a link to the log file at the very top of the page. Keep an eye on it while you're playing with SlimRemote. What's the last lines before SlimRemote locks up?
With the Win32 version, as long as I throw the .dll away it works best out of all of them. It seems there is some default squeezebox ip and there is no option to redirect the search when the .dll file is in the same directory. So I get the "no device connected..yes/no" dialogue. If I throw out the .dll then a dialog asks to which ip to connect. So
The .dll is only needed to store your settings in the registry. If you delete it, your settings won't be read/written. You could also delete the appropriate registry keys (HKCU\Software\herger.net\SlimRemote).
But actually I thought I had added some logic to prevent that situation (as it happened to me, too). Can you select a player from the player icon in the button bar?
far so good... as long as I don't click on the playlist tab. If I click on the playlist tab, up pops a console window with some printout that looks like this: java.lang.NumberFormatException: tracks 14
Hmm... I seem to have a problem with the parsing of the server's output. I'd really like to know what slimserver version you're using.
Actually I like the fact that it doesn't update the servers playlist since, to my mind, this adds some functionality. Visitors (or residents) can connect via the remote, play 1 or many songs and the current server's playlist stays intact without having to go back and reload a playlist. I like it.
I don't understand. You like it broken? You like the fact that you can't add/play songs?
