I looked at xPL briefly -- briefly enough that I didn't even see that
it lacked Firecracker support -- but it seemed overly complex for my
limited goal. More software, more CPU and RAM usage, etc., etc.

I think I should probably add "Alternatives" and "Downsides" sections
to my web page -- xPL and hardware mods being the main alternatives,
and X10's clunkiness (the on/off action in my appliance relays is
louder than I think it ought to be) being the main downside. Secondary
downside -- and I think this would also be true of xPL, but perhaps not
the hardware mods -- is that these "amp power" software techniques don't
work with SqueezeNetwork. When an SB2/SB3 is on SqueezeNetwork, the
local SlimServer loses all control, so it can't tell when a user
interacts with the SB.

That's probably a good thought for another thread and/or bugzilla
ticket -- it'd be nice to offer a "proxied" mode for SqueezeNetwork for
those of us with 24x7 SlimServer hosts so the local SlimServer host
would always have primary control over the SB devices.
