I used the AlienBBC-v1.03_6.2.exe installation pack. After checking on your question I noticed a later release manual download. I unzipped alienbbc-windows-v1.04_6.2-3 and manually copied the files to the plugin directory are. Now working.
Interesting observation. I'm experiencing the same problem with the current SlimCD and want to fix it before releasing 1.71. BUT the files contained in the zip file are identical with those I already have installed (from the tar file) except for the .conf files. It still crashes here.
