Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here's my recent
experiences on installing AlienBBC on a PPC Linkstation (LS1)...

I haven't installed CVS so I'm using the tar balls available for
download from the MPlayer site.

I've installed the PPC essential Codecs (I appreciate these aern't
essential for pre8) and compiled and installed Lame (again not sure if
this is neaded).

MPlayer1.0pre8 apeared to compile OK, but wouldn't start from the
comand line when installed. (reported a problem with sharing libz.so.01
if I remmember correctly, and wouldn't start).... Has anyone got pre8 to
work on a PPC Linkstation?

So I then compiled MPlayer1.0Pre7try2 and this worked fine.

Installed AlienBBC 1.05 and all works fine.

As mentioned above, the MPlayer(1.0pre7try2) processes only add ~20% to
the CPU load and memory usage, could the pre8 version be more CPU
hungry?

A quick question for 'bpa', I'm still getting the well documented
garbled problem on live streams with this version of the build
(1.0pre7try2), when I tried to compile with yor patch
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16917&page=8 pst 76
dated Nov 05), I had the same problem Patrick Dixon
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16917&page=9 see post
no.89).

I used the demuxreal.c in the zip file, should I have used the .gz
version?

Should this version (1.0pre7try2) still require patching? or does it
include the propper MPlayer fix?
