I just tried this on my PC in case this is not an Intel Mac thing: SAME problem. I did a freash install of SS 6.3.1 (never installed on this brand new XP machine).
I'm in Canada, but the XM Online plays on a web browser at www.xmradio.com. Anything specific on the plugin re: country of origin? The XM online content plays perfectly from the web browser, so its not a streaming or password/account problem (I think).
