Thanks for the info. I've been doing a lot of clear and rescans recently whilst testing various problems in 6.5. I haven't really been looking at trackstat, and wondered if I'd have lost any stat data.
I don't know what musicbrainz id's are - I'll have to investigate. However, I know I haven't got any, and it's not worth putting them in - I've now renamed my files such that I won't need to change the structure/filename any more. I used to rip new music directly into my music folder. I recently changed my environment so that any new music goes into a temporary holding area - I check the tags and rename files before moving into my Slimserver music folder and scanning.
