Slimserver to be able to check for updates to your installed plugins and retrieve them, rather than periodically going to each web site and checking manually. Very lazy of me I know, but there you go.
Slimserver already _does_ check for updates, though it can't update itself. You should see a message at the top or bottom of the web interface indicating a link to the update, when available.
