Jerry, I'm actually using version 6.3.1 of the server. Also, I have not made any other changes to the base 1.0 version of the XM plugin (with the exception of some additional trace statements).
As for the delay, I have noticed a slight delay, however it seems to be less than 1-2 secs on my system and is about the same or less than the process of play...pause. (FWIW, I'm running the server on an old PII-350 with 128m running SuSE 10). As for ending up in "Now Playing..." you might want to check your client settings. I believe the default screen saver when playing is now playing. I have been able to browse to other stations, while playing a station without any problems.
