Ah yes, given I have VMware in my server environment I could just re-engineer Slim CD as a VM (done this before) and hopefully connect over X?
Not a lot to re-engineer here: create a machine with >256MB RAM, mount the ISO image as CD-ROM, fire it up. If you want the settings to be backed up, create a disk of 1GB.
What about transporting audio?
While audio with a locally installed SlimCD isn't a problem at all (I'm doing all development in VMware), I don't have a soundcard on any of our servers (after all these are servers :-)) to test with. But as I can't "mount" a local soundcard of my PC to the remote server run in a VM I doubt this would work at all. Please let me know if it works.
