The standard slimserver Browse Albums contains a "No Album" entry, which lists
everything that doesn't have an album tag. I have 984 songs in the "No Album"
list. So I can get to them, but I thought a Browse Singles menu might be
useful, perhaps configured as:

        Browse Singles -> {list of artists that have songs without an album tag
ie. "No Album"} -> {list of songs by the artist that don't have an album tag}

Yes. Sometimes I will rip a track from a CD (because I don't like the rest of
the tracks on the CD I won't bother with them), and therefore remove the album
tag and treat it as a single track by the artist.

Great, thanks.

I think that may be better than have them expand in the list.

I don't know ;) If a user uses custom browse as a replacement for normal
browse, I guess it's better at the top of the list, so under --Browse--.
