So, I've happily been using the latest SlimServer and SoftSqueeze builds
synched together: SlimServer driving a wireless SqueezeBox and
SoftQueeze driving the regular soundcard of the main host XP machine.
I've been using the Slim Excession skin on Softqueeze. Power and Volume
are not synched between SqueezeBox and SlimSqueeze. To control local
volume of the SoftSqueeze I use the XP volume control of my soundcard
(which actually appears as a physical knob on my keyboard). So far, so
good.

This morning I changed source files via Slimserver HTML on the local
machine - and I lost nearly all volume on the SoftSqueeze local output.
No soundcard or speaker problems (all worked via via other software,
using the exact same source data). I checked that the two volumes were
still unsynched. Nada - just a whisper from SoftSqueeze even at full
souncard volume. In the meantime, no problems at all with the Squeebox
output.

After faffing around unsuccessfully, I changed the SoftSqueeze skin
back to the SqueezeBox Remore emulator **and discovered that the volume
here was set really low**. By upping that volume, I was back to normal
levels of output, which I can control as usual from my keyboard
souncard volume knob. I now switch back to the Slim Excession skin,
and everything remains fine.

Happy? Not quite! Why this happened, I don't know - but where on
earth is the volume control in the Slim Excession SoftSqueeze skin?
Somehow that got reduced down to almost zero - but I can see no way of
adjusting the SoftSqueeze volume in that particular skin. I have to
swap to the Squeezebox Remote Emulator skin to have volume controls.

Any thoughts?
