Hi, at that point - Now Playing (Connecting) - it's passed out of the hands of the plugin and SlimServer has taken over. The LastFM messages in the log are just the plugin querying LastFM for 'now playing' info.
For Squeezebox 2/3 I believe it's actually the Squeezebox itself that makes the connection - which model are you using? Does it have a reliable connection to the internet? I think that the d_directstream & d_remotestream debugging options may give more information.
