This behaviour is consistent with the standard search behaviour, I believe, and I've tried to make it behave the same as much as possible to make it a drop-in replacement. There is a workaround, though, which is to use a keyword search instead of an artist search. Search for your artist, press RIGHT to see the albums they feature on, and then just press "PLAY" on the album name. Having said that, though, I agree that this is behaviour you might want in the other types of search so I'll note that as an enhancement for the next version.
