Is it technically impossible to implement the Spotify Web API on the older Squeezeboxes or is it just that no one's had the time to do it.... yet?
We already use the Web API. But it's not for playback. It's only the browsing, discovery, metadata handling etc. As soon as it comes to playback there's little options. Officially supported (by Spotify) is only Spotify Connect - which is not publicly available.
