Thanks for the quick response James.

Am I right in assuming that you are running iTunes Update in "direct"
mode - so your Last.FM submissions are in real time?

My difference is that I can't (or won't?) run iTunes Update in direct
mode so if I follow your model then my SlimServer submissions will not
be in real time (no "now playing" on Last.FM).

When SlimServer 6.5.1 is formally released then I guess I could
reconsider and run SlimServer at logon (and drop SlimScrobbler).

As an aside, I think that (with a bit of digging) iTunes Update could
work in direct mode by tweaking the DCOM settings (dcomcnfg.exe) so
that connections to iTunes Update happen as a specific user rather than
the local system account. I've not had time to scratch more than the
surface of this.
